LEGISLATION

AUSAP would like to express our appreciation to the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) for allowing us to join them in making ammendments to the Mental Health Practice Act in 2010. (To read the bill follow this link: SB 0090 – 2010 Mental Health Practice Act)

The Following changes will take affect in May 11, 2010:

1. R58-60-115 License by Endorsement
Out of State professionals may now obtain their professional license by endorsement- meaning qualifying professionals from other states may apply with the Utah Department of Professional Licensing to obtain their professional licensure here in Utah.

2. R58-60-506 Qualifications for Licensure
Recognizes that licensing candidates have 2-years from the time they receive their educational certificate to obtain license; however it now authorizes DOPL and the Substance Abuse Board to issue longer time for ‘extenuating circumstances.’

3. Numerous minor changes or clean-up .
