To all of our certified colleagues,
The Association of Utah Substance Abuse Professionals (AUSAP) is pleased to announce the opportunity to all of its credentialed members to obtain the NCAC I or NCAC II credential through the NAADAC-National Certification Commission. This is a collaborative effort between our two organizations. The national certification brings recognition and strength on a much broader level for our members and certificates. The NCC certification is recognized nationally as well as internationally in the substance abuse treatment field.
This offer comes as a result of an agreement between AUSAP and the NCC for a six (6) month test exception period beginning April 1, 2010, and ending September 30, 2010. If you have interest in obtaining this certification you will find all of the necessary information in the attached letter from Mr. Jeremy Boberg, President of AUSAP and Mr. James Holder, Chairperson of the NCC.
AUSAP and the NCC invite you to apply for the NCAC I or II credential through the NAADAC-National Certification Commission. This test exception period will run from April 1 through September 30, 2010.
No applications will be accepted after the close of this offer except through the regular testing process.
The application can be found on the Web site – www.ausap.org. Only those persons holding a AUSAP credential may apply.

We encourage your participation in this one time only six month test exception period.
The test exception for the NCAC I and NCAC II credentials is being offered to all persons holding the AUSAP credentials who meet the following requirements:
- Candidates who hold the AUSAP credential and who have taken the AUSAP written examination are asked to:
- Complete application form with the AUSAP and the NCC logos.
- Meet the deadline set for the test exception period. (April 1, 2010 – September 30, 2010.)
- Show evidence of three years for Level I, and five years of experience of Level II, as an addictions counselor.
- A current supervisory statement with signature must accompany application validating experience commensurate for the level of credential applied for. (Three years for Level I and five years for Level II)
- Present evidence of completion of the AUSAP examination with score and date of testing, with current copy of AUSAP credential.
- Present evidence of 270 hours (level I) or 450 hours (Level II) of Alcohol and Drug specific training/education received with six hours of ethics and six hours of HIV/AIDS training, within the past five years. (Note please submit most current training/education hours).
Note: The Level II credential requires a bachelors degree to qualify. Student copies of transcripts are acceptable.
